Apps World Europe 2014 – Round UpPosted on 5 Dec 2014
The Apps World Conference covers a wide range of mobile platforms, including iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone. As usual, there was an array of talks and workshops to get involved with covering subjects such as Mobile Marketing, API Strategies, Retail and of course, a keynote speech, this year featuring Professor Brian Cox OBE and Sir Nigel Shadbolt.
We’ve attended this event a few times and we’re rarely disappointed with the turnout. This year, we were once again highly engaged with attendees at every level, from CEO’s to students. It was a pleasure taking 10 minutes out of our day to speak to, and inspire, students with our products and to get their thoughts and opinions, all of which were positive. Who knows, one of them could create a revolutionary app featuring shinobicontrols one day!
Our technical evangelist Sam Davies, recently voted Coder of the Year at the SPARKies awards, was also part of our team on the ground at Apps World. Sam attends an array of events every year spreading the influence of the shinobicontrols brand across the global developer community through talks and workshops.
This year Sam took part in a ‘Developer world’ panel discussion entitled ‘Developing and designing iOS Apps – tools, techniques and tips’. Scheduled for 5pm and pushed back further due to the previous discussion overrunning, the talk was still well attended. The session covered subjects from multi-threading and performance considerations, user interface design for mobile devices to managing development after launch.
Sam also had the pleasure of presenting an award on stage at the ‘Appster Awards’ held at the 02 arena. This provided Sam with an excellent opportunity to network with fellow developers and industry representatives in a more relaxed atmosphere whilst letting them pick his brain about our powerful controls and solutions.
Overall, the team felt this year’s event was a hugely positive experience and shinobicontrols has definitely come away with an array of encouraging opportunities. If we met with you at Apps World Europe we look forward to seeing you at conferences in the near future.
